I adopted Nikolai from the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County when he was about 6 months old. His name at the Humane Society was “Cracker Jack” because he was sweet and salty. He loves to play and cuddle, but all on his terms. I loved his striking yellow eyes and his sassy attitude. We were meant for each other.
Nikolai and I have been through a lot together. We’ve moved more times than I care to count and even flew across the country together to our new home in Seattle. Nikolai has always been there for me as a cuddle buddy, a tear dryer and a comic relief.
Now it’s my turn to be there for him.
Nikolai has developed a blockage in his biliary tract, keeping him from getting rid of all the yuckies that his body needs to excrete. He has had a rough month or so of ultrasounds, endoscope and even has a tube in his esophagus for all the medications and supplemental feeding he needs.
The funds raised here will be used to cover the intensive surgery Nikolai needs, as well as continuing care such as hospitalization and medications.
It would mean the world to me if we can save Nikolai. If it’s possible to have an animal as a soul mate, Nikolai is my soul mate, and I know we have many more happy, sassy years together if we can get through this.
