Miss Mokki came to New York City in the summer of 2007 to attend belly dance classes. She got a job at The Box that summer, bellydancing and when she got back to Iceland that fall she realized there was no cabaret or variety scene. She found out a group of people were meeting for circus lessons, so she started attending those in hope of finding like minded people. After a few weeks the leader of the group, Lee Nelson, founded the first and only circus in Iceland, Sirkus Íslands and the first shows and gigs started coming together. In 2010 Freya West, a burlesque performer from Texas visited Iceland and Nelson asked Mokki to put together a burlesque variety show for her visit. That was the beginning of Skinnsemi adult circus, where Mokki performs and is artistic director.

Quotes on Skinnsemi:
“This show is the sexiest, craziest, most random sh*t I’ve ever seen.”
Ronnie, aka The Animal, Burnt Out Punks, on Skinnsemi

“The cabaret is both sophisticated and featuring adult content; there is humor, commotion, hullabaloo, and just the right amount of nudity.”
Ragnheiður Eiríksdóttir, pressan.is, on Skinnsemi

“Classic circus and variety acts mixed with crude humor and new twists. The show is a good example of the unlimited imagination of the artists behind it.”
