United Way of Adams County Day of Caring 2019 was held on Friday, June 7. This was a chance for volunteers to give back to their community through hands-on service projects with one of United Way’s partner agencies that the campaign resources support.
Nine partner agency sites were determined for 2019; Horizons Social Services, Community for Christ assistance center in Camp Point, Cheerful Home, Transitions of Western Illinois, The Salvation Army Family Store, Advocacy Network, City of Quincy, YMCA, and Boy Scouts of America at Camp Saukenauk.
Over 100 volunteers signed up to participate. This event wouldn’t be possible without our headline sponsor Blessing Health System. Thank you also Blue Cross Blue Shield and County Market. Our volunteer teams were from Knapheide Manufacturing, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Blessing Health System, United Community Credit Union, Phibro Animal Health Corporation, Mercantile Bank, Adams Fiber, DOT Foods, and the Quincy Family YMCA.
“Not only is this a great volunteer opportunity within the community, it also is a way for volunteers to see the true value and impact of United Way and the programs and agencies we support,” said United Way Director of Programs and Services, Morgan Parker.
